Totusek Award
One of our own students grabbed the high-individual overall award at the annual Oklahoma State Block and Bridle Contest this past Thursday. Tyler White, animal science student, also received the Totusek Award during this time. Over 100 potential animal science students from 7 different junior colleges and high schools attended this year's event. The Block and Bridle contest also featured animals from the purebred livestock herds. Congratulations, Tyler!

Weyerhaeuser Interviews – Moved to Wednesday, November 2nd
Representatives from Weyerhaeuser will be on campus to recruit CASNR students on November 1st and November 2nd for their summer internship opportunities. The representatives will host a meeting with the OSU Forestry Club on Tuesday evening, November 1st, and will interview students for two different internship opportunities on Wednesday, November 2nd. Opportunities are of relevance to students studying Natural Resource Ecology & Management, Horticulture, Plant & Soil Sciences, and Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering. Full position descriptions for these opportunities are pasted at the end of this message. Students interested in interviewing for these opportunities should bring a professional copy of their résumé to the CASNR Student Success Center, 103 Ag Hall, and sign up for an interview time. Interviews will be conducted on Wednesday, November 2nd, in the Student Success Center board room, 103 Ag Hall.

Wichita Externship during Fall Break – Application Deadline, Friday October 7th
Each semester CASNR Career Services plans group externship experiences for CASNR students to assist them with learning about the background and real world practices of agricultural and natural resources-related businesses, with exploring career opportunities, and with developing their professional networks. Organizations provide:
· An overview of their organization,
· An understanding of potential internship and/or fulltime career options/opportunities,
· A perspective of how various functions and specific positions within an organization connect and collaborate to accomplish the businesses’ mission, and
· Any additional “real world” words of wisdom or recommendations of benefit to college students planning to pursue a variety of careers in the agriculture and natural resources fields.
CASNR Career Services will be taking three vans of students to Wichita, Kansas on Friday, October 14th, to visit Koch Industries (http://www.kochind.com/), CNH (http://www.cnh.com/Pages/home.aspx), and Cargill, Inc. (http://www.cargill.com/). Students interested in participating in the trip should submit a professional résumé and a brief (250 words maximum) statement of why they would like to attend to the CASNR Student Success Center, 103 Ag Hall, before 5:00 p.m. on this Friday, October 7th. Selected students will be notified via e-mail before noon on Monday, October 10th.

Are you unsure about your résumé?
Bring a copy of your résumé by the Student Success Center (103 Ag Hall) Wednesday, September 14 from 4:00-8:00 pm for CASNR’s Résumé Critique Night. The Career Liaisons will be on hand to offer tips for creating a marketable résumé, to proof read your résumé, and to answer any questions that you may have.
Remember that Career Fair is next Wednesday, September 21, from 12:30-4:30 pm at the Wes Watkins Exhibit Hall. You will need to bring multiple copies of your résumé with you so take advantage of this opportunity to ensure your résumé is the best is can possibly be! We look forward to seeing you Wednesday, here in the SSC!
