Money, Money, Money!

Are you looking for ways to help pay your way through college? “Agriculture Future of America (AFA) supports academic development through partnerships with rural communities, agriculture organizations and colleges and universities. AFA offers financial support to students who plan to pursue a four year degree in an agriculture related field.” AFA currently has 3 different scholarship opportunities available to students.
 AFA Leader and Academic Scholarships
Deadline: April 3, 2011

Award details and eligibility criteria:

-Awards vary from community partner to nationally available scholarships
-All scholarships include leader development award to attend the AFA Leaders Conference (November 3-6, 2011 in Kansas City, MO) which is required to receive full academic scholarship
-Academic scholarship may be used for tuition and fees.
-Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of career vision and goal, leader and community involvement, and financial need.
-Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

National Association of Farm Broadcasters Foundation Scholarship
Deadline: May 28, 2011
2 scholarships from the NAFB Foundation ($4,000 each)
Glenn Kummerow Memorial Scholarship ($5,000)
Recognized at the National NAFB Convention with an expense-paid trip to attend the conference.

Award details and eligibility criteria:

-Applicants must be a junior, senior, or graduate student prior to application deadline. Applicants must be enrolled in or transferring to an agricultural communications curriculum with concentration and/or application in broadcast media (this may include Internet/on-line media distribution). Graduate student pursuing studies in agricultural broadcast media communications may also apply.
-Successful completion of application and all supplemental materials.
-Provide 3 letters of reference (academic, personal and leadership references).
-Remain in “good standing” with school for the duration of semesters scholarship is to be awarded.
-Provide Agriculture Future of America with a billing statement per semester scholarship is to be paid.

William J. Collins AgriBank Scholarship
Deadline: March 15, 2011
Awarded to graduating high school seniors who are children of AgriBank district employees.

Award details and eligibility criteria:

- Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
-Student must be enrolling in a four-year agriculture-related degree program or have expressed intent to complete a four-year degree in the United States.
- Academic scholarship may be used for tuition and fees.
- Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of career vision and goal, leader and community involvement, and financial need.
-Applicant must provide 3 letters of reference, under same or separate cover, that recognize the applicant’s personal, academic or leadership character. Letters should be received by the application deadline.
