Summer DC Internships

Do you need/want an internship this summer? Perhaps in Washington DC? If so, check these opportunities out of possible internships to serve alongside our elected officials.

Most deadlines fall sometime in March, however Congressman Lucas' deadline is on February 10.

Senator Jim Inhofe
Deadline: March 15, 2012
In addition, students will also need to submit: a resume, writing sample, official transcript, and three letters of recommendation. 

Senator Tom Coburn
Deadline: March 16, 2012
Application: http://www.coburn.senate.gov/public/?p=internships which requires answers to essay questions, college transcript and a resume.

Congressman John Sullivan
Deadline: March 1, 2012
A resume, transcript and at least one letter of recommendation are also required.

Congressman Dan Boren
Deadline: March 19, 2012
A cover letter and resume is also needed. 

Congressman Frank Lucas
Deadline: February 10, 2012
A resume, cover letter, and three references are also required. 

There is also opportunity for OSU students to intern at Congressman Lucas’ Agriculture Committee office.  Interested students should submit a resume, cover letter, transcript and letter of recommendation to Wyatt.Swinford@mail.house.gov

Congressman Tom Cole
Deadline: March 30, 2012

Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's Wildlife Leadership Awards program

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) is currently seeking applications for their Wildlife Leadership Awards program. Each year, they award scholarships of $2,000 to outstanding Juniors and Seniors studying Wildlife Sciences.

VitaFerm Sure Champ Offers Internship Opportunities

Saint Joseph, MO — Sure Champ has a strong commitment to youth in agriculture. With the success of last year’s inaugural internship program Sure Champ will be growing their program to offer two internship positions for Summer 2012.
Sure Champ is offering incoming college juniors and seniors an opportunity to gain experience in the marketing, development and sales of a show feed supplement. Two internships will be offered – public relations/sales internship and sales internship.
Applicants must be enrolled in an agriculture-related major, be able to work individually and in a team environment, have excellent communication skills, understand the show livestock industry, possess a strong work ethic and have prior internship or work experience in agricultural related fields. The public relation/sales internship will also require strong writing, editing and design skills. Experience in social media, photography and video would be of benefit.
The internships will be based out of St. Joseph, Mo., with travel to major livestock junior nationals. The internships will begin June 1 and conclude Aug. 3.

Opening Minds-Creating Futures

Are you a student interested in science?
Do you think it would be exciting to work side-by-side with a real research scientist for 8 weeks this summer?
Does it excite you even more that you will be paid and housing with be paid if you qualify?

If you answered yes to the questions above, you should apply for the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundations's (OMRF) Fleming Scholar Program. Application deadline is February 1. If you would like to apply but do NOT have prior science, laboratory, research experience or formal education, you can still apply! 

What are the requirements?
1) Submit application packets by Feb. 1
2) Possess a strong enthusiasm for science
3) High school seniors, or college freshmen, sophomores and juniors
4) Graduates or soon-to-be graduates from an Oklahoma high school

CASNR Scholarship and Award Applications Now Available!

Students who will be continuing their education next year with the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources are urged to apply for a scholarship offered by CASNR. Annually, CASNR will award over $1 million in scholarships to incoming and current students. You can fill out the application ONLINE by visiting http://casnr.okstate.edu/current-students/scholarships-and-aid/casnr-on-line-scholarship-application. Deadline is January 15.

Also, two different award applications are now ready for you to view and apply. Any CASNR student who will be graduating in the Fall 2011, Spring 2012, or Summer 2012 semesters may fill out the CASNR Outstanding Senior & Dean Fred LeCrone Leadership Award application. Also, sophomores who have completed their first year at CASNR can apply for the Browning Outstanding Freshmen Award. Deadline is February 1 to turn these applications in to 136 Ag Hall.
